Description

This will be a walk of approx 5.5 miles, taking photos and recording info alongside the upper reaches of the River Tame and Hull Brook.
The purpose is to survey and gather information on:
• The presence of invasive non-native vegetation
• Land use
• Any potentially polluting outfalls into the river
As we will be stopping to record and photograph the pace will be leisurely and the walk will take about 4 hours.
There will be one short steep ascent and descent near the start and then most of the walk will be on level ground alongside the river or stream. We will be mainly on field footpaths and bridleways, with some road walking.
Wear walking boots/shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather on the day. Because we will be walking in areas where deer and sheep – and therefore ticks – are present we strongly recommend long trousers. Bring insect repellent, sunscreen, water, and a packed lunch
We will have access to the toilets at the Castleshaw Centre at the start and end of the walk; otherwise there are no public toilets available on this route. There are opportunities to stop for light refreshments in Denshaw and Delph.
Meet at the Castleshaw Centre Car Park, Waterworks Road, OL3 5LZ at 10am.
